He always encouraged me, without perhaps much hope or evidence of any apparent aptitude that I would amount to much. In this, almost a lifetime later, he was correct if you view achievement as success in the eyes of the world. I may not thus far have ‘amounted’ to anything at all.
My achievement, that of an unknown explorer of both real and imagined horizons is in searching for and finding truth he himself sought, in part by by continuing in his footsteps, that pioneer of dreams, my father.
